Discover the island of Porquerolles

Porquerolles Island is the largest and most westerly of the three islands of Hyères. It is 7km long and 3km wide and is the most inhabited and most visited island.

It enjoys almost daily sunshine (more than 300 days of sunshine per year), which makes it a dream destination all year round with mild winters and hot summers pleasantly cooled by the sea air. As soon as you arrive on the island, you will be charmed by the marina and then by the village with its houses lined with generous vegetation. In the centre of the village you will find the large Place d'Armes and the church of Sainte-Anne, surrounded by numerous restaurants, ice cream parlours and shops.

From there, you can choose to visit the island on foot or by renting a bike.

Porquerolles, the island with two faces

It is an island with two faces, with magnificent white sandy beaches to the north, with clear turquoise waters, such as the best known; the Plage d'Argent, the Plage de la Courtade and the Plage de Notre-Dame. The latter, with its majestic pine forest surrounding it, was voted most beautiful beach in Europe in 2015.

To the south, the cliffs fall steeply into the sea, it is a steep relief where gorges, points and creeks follow one another. Two creeks have small beaches where you can rest and swim; the Brégançonnet creeks and the Oustaou de Diou creeks. Inland, you will walk along fields of olive trees and vineyards and the paths are lined with pine and eucalyptus trees.

Apart from the walks and beaches, there are also many places to visit on the island.

The various forts; Fort Sainte-Agathe, Fort de l'Alycastre, Fort du Grand Langoustier and Fort de la Repentance.

There is also the Moulin du Bonheur and the Porquerolles lighthouse.

The Carmignac Foundation in Porquerolles

We advise you to visit the Carmignac Foundation which was established in 2018.

The Villa Carmignac, located in the heart of a national park, invites you to discover a contemporary art exhibition, a sculpture garden and a cultural programme.

Even if you are new to this art, it is a real pleasure to discover this Provençal farmhouse, which blends into the landscape and which, as you visit, will reveal 2000 m² of exhibition rooms located under a watery ceiling.
